THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION: IDEOLOGICAL AND INSTITUTIONAL CHANGE IN AMERICAN POLITICS

Saturday 19 October: 11:30am - 12:30pm

Alison Richard Building, SG1/2, Sidgwick Site 7 West Road, CB3 9DT

Political analysis all too frequently takes the form of punditry and horse race journalism. Three experts with firsthand experience in American politics will challenge this status quo by reflecting on the current state of the presidential campaign through an interrogation of the generational shift occurring in the U.S. political landscape. Taking on topics foreign and domestic, the panelists will cover a sweeping set of issues including the breakdown of the neoliberal consensus, rising polarization and ideological divisions in both parties, and the future of foreign policy in a period of relative decline and great power competition.
