Taking a photo, seemingly a mundane act today, creates a record of a scene. Many photos of a scene taken over time captures something more profound; how that scene changes. The Cambridge University Collection of Aerial Photography (CUCAP) consists of nearly 500,000 aerial images taken between 1945 and 2009 and represents a unique record of the British Isles over that period. With a behind the scenes tour of the University Library's Digitisation Studio to see how the analogue becomes digital, we'll take a technical perspective on how this process opens the door to new and exciting uses for the images.
Please meet in the Entrance Hall 5-10minutes before start of tour. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
