This is a design workshop for the whole family and children of all ages are welcome to attend. 42% of the population in Mumbai live in slums. The Government of Maharashtra has introduced an effective rehabilitation housing policy but the results have been myopic. We need to rethink the design of these projects. How should slum rehabilitation housing look like? How could children use the space? Could the projects use solar energy? The workshop is part of research on slum rehabilitation projects in Mumbai, funded by the British Academy. It is organized by the Global Energy Nexus in Urban Settlements (GENUS) research network at CRASSH that is a team of academics from Architecture, Engineering, Geography and Business Studies.
