Can new technology strengthen democracy and allow a wider range of voices to be heard? Listening to citizens is the cornerstone of affecting lasting social change. Yet, development, humanitarian and governance initiatives often fail because the priorities and experiences of citizens are not fully understood. This session explores how Africa’s Voices, a nonprofit start-up that spun out of the Centre of Governance and Human Rights, leverages technology, social science and digital media to turn large-scale authentic citizen voice into evidence that drives impactful social change.
