THE CREATIVE LEGACY OF THE REFORMATION

Friday 27 October: 5:00pm - 6:30pm

Great St Mary's Church, Senate House Hill, CB2 3PQ

Taking his cue from the 'Five Foundations' sculpture exhibition in the churchyard of Great St Mary's, Professor David Ford will draw attention to the varied fruits of the Reformation, especially the idea of the university in the 21st century. The five 'sola's of the Reformation (sola gratia, sola fide, sola scriptura, solus Christus, and Soli Deo Gloria), which are symbolised in the Five Foundations exhibition, summarise important shifts in thinking that had tremendous impact upon Europe. Considering these concepts in the context of the modern university will yield many important insights for the future.
