Sunday 27 October: 7:00pm - 8:00pm

West Road Concert Hall, 11 West Road, CB3 9DP

Discover the amazing talents of young composers at this annual concert showcasing the winning and specially-commended entries in the East Anglian Young Composer Competition.

The pieces to be performed have all been written by children aged 18 and under who were invited to compose a piece of music up to five minutes long, inspired by the Festival theme of 'Change'. Entries have been composed for two or three instruments selected from flute, cello and piano.

The compositions will be played by members of the Marsyas Trio, a group of young professional musicians dedicated to performing music for flute, cello & piano from the Classical era to the present day, who are proactive in commissioning new music.

The concert will also include a specially commissioned work by last year's East Anglian Young Composer of the Year, Jacob Fitzgerald.

The competition has been organised by Cambridge Youth Music and judged by composer Ewan Campbell. It is open to children from Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

The Finals of the East Anglian Young Composer Competition will be held earlier in the day on Sunday 27 October, 11am - 5pm, in the Old Labs, Newnham College, when all entries to the competition will be performed. The Finals are part of the Festival of Ideas and anyone is welcome to attend.
