Sunday 28 October: 5:00pm - 6:00pm

West Road Concert Hall, 11 West Road, CB3 9DP

Discover the amazing talents of young composers at this annual concert showcasing the winning and specially-commended entries in the East Anglian Young Composer Competition 2018.

The pieces to be performed have all been written by children aged 18 and under who were invited to compose a piece of music up to five minutes long, inspired by the Festival theme of 'Extremes'. Entries have been composed for two or more instruments selected from a wind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, french horn and bassoon).

The compositions will be played by members of the Magnard Ensemble, a group of young professional musicians who perform widely in the UK and abroad as well as undertaking regular education and community projects.

The competition has been organised by Aldeburgh Young Musicians, Snape with support from Cambridge Youth Music. It is open to children from Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

The Concert will also include a specially commissioned work by last year's East Anglian Young Composer of the Year, Luke Askew.
