CHANGE AND THE BRITISH ECONOMY
Whatever happens on October 31st – in or out of the European Union – Britain faces substantial economic change. This year’s popular interactive simulation game Running the British Economy will focus on what the shocks are likely to be, and how they will affect economic and social wellbeing.
Running the British Economy is designed for Year 12 and 13 students who are studying Economics and economics-related subjects and are recommended by their school. It is being offered this year on two dates: Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th October.
If you take part, you will:
• Play in teams of four or five and steer the British economy through ten challenging ‘years’
• Make decision on taxing and spending, and on monetary policy
• See the changing impact of your policies on the economy, and
• Need to correct your mistakes
In addition, you will get a detailed briefing on the current state of the British economy and on its domestic and international opportunities. Your session will conclude with a plenary review and discussion of the game and its main learning points.
