Whipple Museum of the History of Science, Free School Lane, CB2 3RH

Experience a captivating fusion of art, history and science as Diploma and Foundation students from Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts (CSVPA) come together in mixed-specialism groups in response to key exhibits from the Whipple Museum’s Uncomfortable Science tour.

Each group has created a mixed media outcome incorporating drawing, dance, theatre, animation and music, with the aim of bringing the narrative of their chosen exhibit to life through a unique approach to storytelling. Each outcome presents profound questions that emerge from alternative historical perspectives, and invites you to engage in these vital yet underexplored aspects of scientific history.

The exhibition will also feature work from CSVPA staff, and a mixed media animation created by Diploma Year 1 in Art and Design students, which weaves together the narratives around key objects held in the Whipple collection, highlighting the difficult histories inherent in the advancement of scientific knowledge as revealed by the Museum’s Uncomfortable Science tour.
